This Madrid Mountains Bike Tour is designed for avid cyclists ready to tackle some of the region’s most iconic mountain passes in the Sierra de Guadarrama. Starting in Soto del Real, you’ll pedal towards Miraflores de la Sierra and take on the climbs of Morcuera Pass and Canencia Pass.
The ascent to Morcuera spans 8 km, with an average gradient between 4.5% and 7%. From the summit, enjoy sweeping views of the Madrid plain to the south and the rugged Sierra peaks all around.
After conquering Morcuera, enjoy a thrilling 13 km descent at a 4–6% gradient to Rascafría, where we’ll pause to admire the Monastery of Paular. The route then crosses the valley of the Lozoya River, passing through Lozoya and Pinilla del Valle, before ascending the quieter, pine-covered Port of Canencia. This scenic pass is one of the lowest in the Sierra de Guadarrama, yet offers a peaceful ride away from the busier cycling routes.
Your adventure begins with a 9:00 AM hotel pickup in Madrid and a van transfer to Soto del Real. The ride starts at 10:00 AM, crossing the mountains and descending into the Lozoya Valley before returning to Soto del Real. At 2:00 PM, we’ll stop for a traditional Spanish lunch, then head back to Madrid, arriving around 4:00 PM.
